Founded in 2021 during the pandemic, Splitting Colours Jewellery is a Hong Kong based fine jewellery brand specialising in gem-grade bi- and tri-colour tourmalines distinguished by their natural colour combinations and mesmerising intensity.
As Paraiba tourmalines continue to command attention in the world of high jewellery and international auctions, tourmalines more broadly have emerged as their expressive yet accessible counterpart. Often referred to as “Rainbow Gemstones”, tourmalines are prized for their unparalleled spectrum of natural hues. This quality resonates deeply with Designer and Co-founder Vincee Yip, who has long been drawn to their individuality and rarity. Her work focuses on sourcing exceptional bi- and tri-coloured tourmalines, geological miracles formed over thousands of years, yet designed to be worn every day.
The brand’s story mirrors Vincee’s own journey. After leaving a successful career in marketing research, she channelled her spirit of adventure into gem discovery. Today, that sense of wonder is transformed into wearable jewellery shaped by colour, the history and rarity of each stone, contemporary design, and meticulous craftsmanship.

Since its establishment, the brand has marked key international milestones. Splitting Colours Jewellery expanded its global presence through appearances at Takashimaya Osaka, Matsuya Asakusa in Tokyo, Pinkoi Design Fest in Taipei and Boutiques Asia in Iconsiam Bangkok.

Meet Ms. Vincee Yip, Our Designer and Co-founder
Born and raised in Hong Kong, Vincee Yip graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Mathematics and Statistics. Before entering the world of fine jewellery, she spent over a decade at WPP Group in quantitative marketing research, building a career rooted in data, structure, and analytical precision.
Yet beyond numbers, Vincee has always been drawn to the wonders of the natural world. Her curiosity for geology, travel, and adventure gradually led her to gemstones, particularly tourmalines, often referred to as “Rainbow Gemstones” for their unparalleled spectrum of natural colours. This fascination eventually became a calling. Guided by a courageous instinct to pursue meaning over convention, Vincee left her corporate career and, together with her husband Stephen Poon, founded Splitting Colours Jewellery during the pandemic.
Her commitment to enduring craftsmanship and authenticity led her to formally pursue gemmology studies with the Gemmological Association of Great Britain in 2019. Since then, Vincee has been primarily responsible for product and brand development, serving as the dedicated curator of every gemstone selected for the brand. Each stone is assessed through rigorous standards including colour intensity, natural inclusions, and rarity, with particular reverence for bi- and tri-coloured tourmalines, geological phenomena that are exceptionally difficult to source. For Paraiba tourmalines, she focuses on the coveted neon blue hue, a quality increasingly sought after in the global jewellery market and at international auctions.
Vincee’s expertise lies in her belief that no other gemstone rivals tourmalines in their range of colour expression. Their ability to carry multiple hues within a single stone embodies individuality, complexity, and emotional depth, values that sit at the core of Splitting Colours Jewellery. In recent years, her work has also expanded towards higher quality Paraiba tourmalines, responding to both market evolution and her ongoing pursuit of excellence.
Beyond ready to wear collections, Vincee is the creative heart behind the brand’s bespoke commissions, working closely with clients and fellow gemstone enthusiasts to translate personal stories into one of a kind pieces. Her designs have been recognised by media outlets in Hong Kong, Japan, Denmark, and the United Kingdom. She is also a featured designer at Women Jewellers Japan and, in 2024, became the only Hong Kong designer to be listed in its official members’ directory.
